A REPRESENTATIVE FROM UTMS PARTICIPATED IN THE CONFERENCE "DEBATE FORUM" ORGANIZED BY THE INDEPENDENT CATERING CHAMBER

The Independent Catering Chamber organized a conference "Debate Forum" on September 10, 2020. On the Conference for the first time attended not only members of the Chamber, but also guest caterers, producers, and distributors of beverages and food, pop artists and other representatives of dependent and affected sectors of operations, state institutions that are directly involved in creating and implementing a legal framework for the operation of caterers.

The Vice-Rector for Teaching from the University of Tourism and Management in Skopje, prof. Mijalce Gjorgievski, Ph.D., who, in his speech, pointed out that the problem with staff is not in education, but much higher. In that context, professorGjorgievski pointed out: "We produce staff. There is interest in this profession among young people. However, we must admit that due to the pandemic, the practical part of the teaching has been disrupted in the past period, which is of particular interest in these profiles in catering. However, the problem with the staff is not in education. More than a hundred caterers leave our university every year, but over 50 percent of them leave the country. So the problem is more comprehensive not only in terms of unfair competition in the profession, licensing, economic viability, salaries, dignity, respect for professions, and many other things that young people see as an obstacle in their creative expression and realization of the profession.

Through a discussion, the NSC exchanged experiences with its members and proposed joint measures to support and facilitate their work and suggested ways to protect themselves from current unfair competition. To the internal measures, the Government's expectations arose from their previous official visits, analyzes, and conclusions on conditions under which they could continue their work and in the conditions of the expected, the so-called second wave of the epidemic.
